FOOD AT THE FESTIVAL OF St JOHN
Full catering is available at very reasonable prices. Some vegetarian options are generally included, but be sure to mention any special food needs or preferences on your booking form.
You are recommended to bring your own feast kit for meals. Basic feast kit includes:
- "crockery" (a plate and a bowl)
- cutlery (a knife and a spoon)
- cups (glass, pewter, and wood aren't great for morning coffee! If your medieval-looking vessel is made of any of those materials, you might like to also sneak in a ceramic cup for breakfast!)
- a table napkin (optional)
- a couple of tea towels drying your dishes
There is limited feast kit available for loan. Contact the Steward to enquire about availability.
Bookings for the Feast and Meal Plan close two weeks before the event - Friday the 21st of September.
The Meal Plan
The meal plan is an all-inclusive catering option covering the weekend's main meals, with the exception of the Feast. Meals are generally tasty and authentic examples of medieval and renaissance recipes, selected with a modern eye toward nutrition and variety.
The meal plan starts with a simple yet hearty dinner for those arriving on Friday, and includes both breakfast and lunch on Saturday and Sunday. You may book for part, or all, of the weekend's meals. Children aged 1 - 15 years of age receive a discount.

The Feast
Saturday night's meal is a medieval feast, generally of 3-4 courses. The Feast is a chance for richer and more intricate dishes, fancier clothes, and more socialising and entertainment than the other meals. Learn more about this year's Feast HERE.
Our Feast Cook this year is Lord Androu le Greyn.
The Feast is priced separately from the Meal Plan. Children are priced at $1 per year of age, up to 15 years.

Self-catering
Self-catering is permitted, although full priority in the kitchen is given to the Meal Plan and Feast cooks and refrigerator/oven space is limited. Those wishing to self-cater are recommended to either choose no-cook meal items, or negotiate kitchen access via the Steward, who will plead their case with the Cooks.
Alcohol
Alcohol is permitted with meals, especially the Feast, however all members are expected to consume responsibly and with consideration for both the venue and fellow guests. Under-age drinking will not be tolerated. Modern beverage containers must remain out of sight.
