The Festival of St John of Jerusalem - 5-7 October 2012
The Festival of St John of Jerusalem - more commonly referred to as "St John's" - is the Canton of Cluain's oldest annual celebration. Held annually on the picturesque slopes of Mt Pirongia's Forest Park, it traditionally hosts a variety of heavy and mixed combat activities. Originally held near the actual Feast of St John the Baptist (AKA John of Jerusalem) on June 21st, the event has often migrated to a later month in recent years, depending on the availability of the venue. Some people like it later in the year - it's warmer!
The event's early origins were a focus on the Crusades and heavy/mixed combat activities. St John's 2012 is going to continue, and update, that theme. This year we hope to offer a range of combat activities, as well as A&S competitions, children's activities, entertainment and feasting, and a warm welcome for newcomers and visitors.
We have a great stewarding team running the event this year - meet them HERE.
